Citizen University is seeking a contract researcher or research team for a 9-10 month project exploring global practices of building a stronger civic culture. We aim to learn how civic catalysts around the world are shaping and strengthening the civic culture of their communities, how such approaches play out successfully in locally-rooted ways, and how these learnings can be applied to ongoing and emerging practices within the US.

Deadlines: We ask that interested parties please reach out by January 31, 2023 to schedule a 30-minute exploratory conversation to take place by February 24. Deadline for proposal submission: March 24, 2023

About our team

The CU team approaches our work with spirit, joy, and a deep responsibility to each other and to the civic health of our nation. We bring enthusiasm and ingenuity to our work. We ask each other, why does democracy matter? We have dance parties together on zoom (don’t worry, they’re optional). We work with incredible people from Miami to Wichita to San Diego. And best of all, we each strive to live like citizens the best we can each and every day.

Our Commitments to Equity, Justice, and Belonging

As an organization striving to strengthen our democracy and civic health across America, we recognize that living up to the values of liberty and justice for all starts with each of us.

Our team has made a series of commitments toward ensuring equity, justice, and belonging are baked into our work. We know we have much to do to fully live out these commitments. We also know that deepening trust, relationships, and affection are the backbone to a healthy team culture. And that takes time, dedication, and willingness to have hard conversations. So we’re digging in, and we hope you’ll join us.

You’ll be a crucial part of the CU fabric, joining together through happiness and hardship, challenge and success. Plus, we genuinely enjoy spending time with each other—joy is a crucial ingredient to our work! Together, we’re creating an environment of care, respect, and responsibility.
