James Fallows is a National Correspondent for the Atlantic, and has worked and written for the magazine since the late 1970s. Before that was President Carter’s chief speechwriter in the White House. He has written ten books, won the American Book Award and National Magazine Award, and reported from China, Japan, Southeast Asia, and points across the United States. Since 2013 he and his wife Deborah have been writing about American resilience in their “American Futures” project.
