Dr. Abdul El-Sayed is the Health Officer for the City of Detroit and Executive Director of the Detroit Health Department. He is an internationally recognized expert in population health policy. He was a professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Columbia University, where he directed the Columbia University Systems Science Program and Global Research Analytics for Population Health. He is the recipient of numerous health policy and research awards, including being named a Policy Innovator by the Carnegie Council. Dr. El-Sayed’s writing on urban health policy has been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, CNN, Al-Jazeera, The Hill, Project Syndicate, and Huffington Post.
